We Stand as One In Your Embrace

Dedicated In the Loving Memory of Our Sister.
May You Heal.
May God Bless Your Soul.

A Nation Mourns: Delhi gang rape victim dies after battling for life for over 12 days

We Stand as One in Your Embrace

You have Passed on to a Better Place.
We stand as one with tears in our eyes,
These tears from our hearts.. so heavy, so torn,
We stand as one In a world so cold, numb and grey.

We haven't met but I picture You now,
A Soul so full of grace,
A Heart so full of Love.
So blessed in Peace, with Your Dignity restored.

Your Sacrifice is a call to us all,
A call to redeem the respect and lost glory,
These Sacred virtues.. of Women everywhere,
We stand as one, As we seek our lost sense of Humanity.

Dear Sister, You are Free,
Free of Pain, You are not alone, for We stand as one,
I picture You now,
among Angels You stand to guard us from above.

We Stand as One in Your Embrace,
You Heal us now, You Redeem us in this Love,
Our Hopes rest in You,
Dear Sister, We carry You.. cherished, revered and loved in our Hearts.

Dear Sister, Forgive us..
Dear Sister, Remember us ...

Cleave away from, and Remove
The darkness of ignorance around You.
And Just as one can light so many;
Let each Heart kindle this..Eternal Light
And its Eternal Life
Unto All Your Hearts and Souls.

 May the light of Love
And endless Devotion
Burn bright with strength, perfection & passion,
May this Light of infinite Knowledge
And understanding shine within
The core of your Being,
May the Light of harmony and peace glow in your home this Diwali,
May the bright rays of service shine forth ceaselessly from your hands,
May your smile, your words, and your actions be as sweet as the sweets of this festive season,
& May the Lord bring you True wealth..

~* An Auspicious Time *~
A Season replete with Endless & Timeless Victories

" Even though scolded by the wicked or insulted, ridiculed, calumniated, beaten, bound, robbed of his living or spat upon or otherwise abominably treated by the ignorant-being thus variously shaken and placed in dire extremities, the man who desires his well-being should deliver himself by his own effort through patience and non-resistance.

The awakened sages call a person wise when all his undertakings are free from anxiety about results.
No one should abandon duties because he sees defects in them. Every action, every activity, is surrounded by defects as a fire is surrounded by smoke.

He alone sees truly who sees the Lord the same in every creature...seeing the same Lord everywhere, he does not harm himself or others.

Reshape yourself through the power of your will...
Those who have conquered in peace, alike in cold and heat, pleasure and pain, praise and blame...To such people a clod of dirt, a stone, and gold are the same...Because they are impartial, they rise to great heights.

It is better to perform one's own duties imperfectly than to master the duties of another. By fulfilling the obligations he is born with, a person never comes to grief.

Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving, and full of the desire to serve...Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigor, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then, you will achieve your destiny. "

~*  Days of Diwali  *~

India is a land of festivals. Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated with fervor and gaiety. The festival is celebrated by young and old, rich and poor, throughout the country to dispel darkness and light up their lives. The festival symbolizes unity in diversity as every state celebrates it in its own special way.

The celebration of the four-day festival commences on Aswayuja Bahula Chaturdasi and concludes on Kartika Shudda Vijiya. The first day of the festival Naraka Chaturdasi marks the vanquishing of the demon Naraka by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama.

'Puranas' have it that Naraka, son of Bhudevi, acquired immense power from a blessing given by Lord Brahma after a severe penance. He soon unleashed a reign of terror in the kingdom of Kamarupa, harassing celestial beings with his invincible might. Unable to bear the tyranny of the demon, the celestial beings pleaded with Lord Krishna to save them from his torture.

But Naraka could not be easily killed as he had a boon that he would face death only at the hands of his mother Bhudevi. So, Krishna asks his wife Satyabhama, the reincarnation of Bhudevi, to be his charioteer in the battle with Naraka.

When Krishna feigns unconsciousness after being hit by an arrow of Naraka, Satyabhama takes the bow and aims the arrow at Naraka, killing him instantly. Later Lord Krishna reminds her of the boon she had sought as Bhudevi. The slaying of Naraka by Sathyabhama could also be taken to interpret that parents should not hesitate to punish their children when they stray on to the wrong path. The message of Naraka Chaturdasi is that the good of the society should always prevail over one's own personal bonds.

The second day is Amavasya when Lakshmi puja is performed. It is believed that on this day Goddess Lakshmi would be in her benevolent mood and fulfill the wishes of her devotees. One version says that it was on this day that Goddess Lakshmi emerged from Kshira Sagara (Ocean of Milk) when the Gods and demons were churning the sagara (ocean) for nectar (Amrit)

The other version is that when Lord Vishnu in the guise of Vamana, sought three feet of land from the generous demon king Bali, the latter had to surrender his head as Vamana had conquered the earth and the sky in two strides. Lord Vishnu banishes Bali into the Pathala Loka (netherland) by keeping his third stride on Bali's head. Later, pleased by his generosity, Lord Vishnu grants him a boon and he in turn requests the Lord to guard his palace at Pathala Loka.

Meanwhile, the Goddess is unable to bear the separation and her grief affects the functioning of the entire universe. Brahma and Lord Shiva offer themselves as guards and plead with Bali to relieve Vishnu. So, on the Amavasya day, Lord Vishnu returns to his abode and Goddess Lakshmi is delighted. It is believed that those who worship Goddess Lakshmi on this day would be bestowed with all the riches.

The third day is "Kartika Shudda Padyami." On this day Bali would come out of Pathala Loka and rule Bhuloka (Earth) as per the boon given by Lord Vishnu. Hence, it is also known as "Bali Padyami"

The fourth day is referred to as "Yama Dvitiya." On this day, sisters invite their brothers to their homes.

However, in the northern part of India it is celebrated as the return of Ram along with Sita and Lakshman from his 14 years of exile after killing Ravana. To commemorate his return to Ayodhya, his subjects illuminated the kingdom and burst crackers. For the Gujaratis, Marwaris and other business community Diwali marks the worship of Goddess Lakshmi and also the beginning of the new financial year.

For Bengalis, it is the time to worship Goddess Kali or Durga. The Goddess Durga continued her "Vilaya Tandava" even after killing demon Mahishasura.

~* More About Diwali *~
~* Mythical Observances and Historical Reasons *~

" Diwali ", It’s not just the festive mood in the air that makes you happy, or just that it's a good time to enjoy before the advent of winter. There are 10 mythical and historical reasons why Diwali is a great time to celebrate.
*And there are good reasons not just for Hindus but also for all others to celebrate the significance and auspiciousness of this great Festival of Lights.

1.Goddess Lakshmi’s Birthday: The Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi incarnated on the new moon day (amaavasyaa) of the Kartik month during the churning of the ocean (samudra-manthan), hence the association of Diwali with Lakshmi.

2. Vishnu Rescued Lakshmi: On this very day (Diwali day), Lord Vishnu in his fifth incarnation as Vaman-avtaara rescued Lakshmi from the prison of King Bali and this is another reason of worshipping Ma Larkshmi on Diwali.

3. Krishna Killed Narakaasur: On the day preceding Diwali, Lord Krishna killed the demon king Narakaasur and rescued 16,000 women from his captivity. The celebration of this freedom went on for two days including the Diwali day as a victory festival.

4. The Return of the Pandavas: According to the great epic ‘Mahabharata’, it was ‘Kartik Amavashya’ when the Pandavas appeared from their 12 years of banishment as a result of their defeat in the hands of the Kauravas at the game of dice (gambling). The subjects who loved the Pandavas celebrated the day by lighting the earthen lamps.

5. The Victory of Ram: According to the epic ‘Ramayana’, it was the new moon day of Kartik when Lord Ram, Ma Sita and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravana and conquering Lanka. The citizens of Ayodhya decorated the entire city with the earthen lamps and illuminated it like never before.

6. Coronation of Vikramaditya: One of the greatest Hindu King Vikramaditya was coroneted on the Diwali day, hence Diwali became a historical event as well.

7. Special Day for the Arya Samaj: It was the new moon day of Kartik (Diwali day) when Maharshi Dayananda, one of the greatest reformers of Hinduism and the founder of Arya Samaj attained his nirvana.

8. Special Day for the Jains: Mahavir Tirthankar, considered to be the founder of modern Jainism also attained his nirvana on Diwali day.

9. Special Day for the Sikhs: The third Sikh Guru Amar Das institutionalized Diwali as a Red-Letter Day when all Sikhs would gather to receive the Gurus blessings. In 1577, the foundation stone of the Golden Temple at Amritsar was laid on Diwali. In 1619, the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind, who was held by the Mughal Emperor Jahengir, was released from the Gwalior fort along with 52 kings.

10. The Pope’s Diwali Speech: In 1999, Pope John Paul II performed a special Eucharist in an Indian church where the altar was decorated with Diwali lamps, the Pope had a ‘tilak’ marked on his forehead and his speech was bristled with references to the festival of light.

And off-course most importantly, like so many other native Eurasian cultures, Diwali, timed around the Lunar calendar has always historically been a harvest festival associated with the blessed transformational powers of this auspicious time of change and renewal. I hope we can add many more illuminating and triumphant legends to this endless and timeless tale of welcoming lights.

I'd like to Add & Conclude with this personal Note to mark the occasion.. this year :)

If you feel the human part of the world around you, you will see that it is a cacophony of voices, thoughts and emotions which are an outpouring of confusions of many different levels of states gone wrong. When man is in this level of confusion and chaos, when he is subjugated by the misconceptions or the perceptions of reality around him, the pain, oppression and suffering that he creates for  himself, for the people and for all other life forms around him is very unfortunate.

With all the conveniences and facilities we have because of science and technology, humanity has still remained as an absolute confusion, an absolute mess.  Most  people in the world live their lives without even understanding what it is that they really want for themselves.  Or even if they know what they want, they neither have the will nor the vision to create this.  Most of the time they settle for anything that they feel is easy or for whatever is within their reach without even seeing whether they really need it in their lives or not.

We are always trying to create our life based on the current reality that exists around us at this moment. What we want as the highest in life need not have anything to do with our present situation.  If we enslave our visions to current situations, then it is once again settling for what is attainable, what is easy, what you think is possible or not possible.  It is just in terms of seeing what is your vision, what is the highest that you can seek in your life.

If man has a vision of what he wishes to do with himself and the world around him, it is not beyond man’s capacity to create it.  It may happen in this life time, it may take a couple of lifetimes but what we want will definitely come.  For that person whose vision of life is clear and he just seeks it every moment of his life, the highest things will come and fall at his feet.  But man is most of the time a bundle of confusion and is seeking what he does not want. This lack of vision and will in his life is fundamentally because of a distorted understanding of the world around us.

What you know as the highest, you just seek that.  It does not matter whether it is going to happen or not going to happen, simply living with the vision itself is a very elevating, liberating and joyous process.  Whether it is going to happen tomorrow or after a hundred years is not the point. You are not concerned about the result in the end.  It is just that you have a vision and you give all your life towards it.This is one of the easiest ways to attain the highest also. The whole Gita is just about this – to simply give yourself to what you want, not caring whether it is a spiritual process by itself.

Vision is an important way of transcending limitations within and outside ourselves. If what you want is very clear to you and if you are set on it, what seems to be impossible today, tomorrow it becomes a normal part of your life.  Without any fuss it falls at your feet. But at every moment, if you logically question this and think in terms of, ‘is it attainable or not attainable?’ then the confusion that you create in your mind and in the world around you makes the world itself into a big confusion.  It is time to really create a vision within ourselves as to what it is that we really care about.

Brightest Blessings & Love to You All this Diwali.

I wish You All Happiness, Peace & Prosperity ,

Best Regards,

Jai Krishna Ponnappan

Samhain Blessings: Agus Tha Gaol Agam Ort (& I love you.~translated from Gaelic)

Love is fair without favorites.

Love is just, it knows no bounds, it feels no burdens.

Humanity is defined by its duality,
It is lost to the extremes of beauty and ugliness.
May it know its responsibilities in Love,
May it find its peace,
May Eternal and loving Eyes..
Guide and Light its way forward
Unto the awakening of dawn,
May you honor these Truths this time of the year,
May You reflect on the inevitability of change,
May you seek and accept transformation and not escape,
May you find the seeds of renewal and birth,
May You respect and learn from the endless
May you evolve in the wisdom of the old
& May you accept the responsibility
That comes with it all, this time of the Year.

I wish You all a Happy and Safe Celebration.

Just a few words of concern & caution,
.. a sincere and kind reminder from the Heart.
P.S ~It's about to get a little wet and windy around here;)

~ Up from the sea, in a lonely hollow ~
~ She rose upon a patch of grass ~

Green and Free, in a land enslaved by debt,
Her Spirit dances in ecstasy,
As it gathers and piles up in Strength
Fierce against the oppressor,
who rules and robs these kindred Souls
An island of Hope a-midst an ocean of sorrows
On a day I can never forget, I will it so...
A seeker of Truth, I gather and live in All worlds.
Receding and nearing,
The sea lay below me
Receding and nearing,
white, blue and red.
With healing in its hurting
Joy with its breadth held
Swelling and breaking.
I lay thinking of the colors around me,
Her colors that greet my will
As I lay thinking of the colors of Eternity
The colors that forever flood this blissful Heart.

~ A Chuisle, A ChroĆ
 Tada Gan Iarracht ~

(~ My Pulse, My Heart
Nothing is Done Without effort ~)
You are purged in Light & Truth.....

“Yea, she hath passed hereby, and blessed the sheaves,

And the great garths, and stacks, and quiet farms,
And all the tawny, and the crimson leaves.
Yea, she hath passed with poppies in her arms,
Under the star of dusk, through stealing mist,
And blessed the earth, and gone, while no man wist.

With slow, reluctant feet, and weary eyes,
And eye-lids heavy with the coming sleep,
With small breasts lifted up in stress of sighs,
She passed, as shadows pass, among the sheep;
While the earth dreamed, and only I was ware
Of that faint fragrance blown from her soft hair.

The land lay steeped in peace of silent dreams;
There was no sound amid the sacred boughs.
Nor any mournful music in her streams:
Only I saw the shadow on her brows,
Only I knew her for the yearly slain,
And wept, and weep until she come again.”

Blessings & Best Regards to You All,
This time of the Year.
My Heart is in You.

A New Beginning: May You Come as a Blessing In All of Life's Passing Seasons

Blessed be the longing that brought you here

Remembering John O'Donohue
And that quickens your Soul with wonder
May a secret providence
guide your thought and shelter your feelings
May your Soul be as free as the ever-new waves of the sea.
May you succumb to the danger of growth.
May you live in the neighbourhood of wonder.
May you belong to Love
with the wildness of dance.
May you always know that you are ever-embraced
in the kind circle of God.

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life's desire.

Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your Soul senses the world that awaits you.

If we ignore the Soul, we will never be able to impress ourselves

My Dad often sends me these personal messages and words of advice. This is an insightful reminder I received from Him earlier today. I thought that a lot of people I meet and some of my young and close friends in particular might benefit from such sage, noble and humbling advice.

' If we ignore the Soul, focus only on materialistic goals and build our lives on the foundation of this “transactional faith”, we will never be able to impress ourselves or the world for long. We can never ever enjoy permanent peace, happiness or contentment. God is impressed with us only when we live with a constant awareness of the true purpose of our lives. There is an enlightening story that illustrates this.  Once, a billionaire who had spent most of his life accomplishing worldly goals, died and his soul stood before God, God looked at him and asked, “My dear child, you have been away for many years.  How have you spent your life? What have you done to impress Me?  The billionaire proudly said, “God, I impressed thousands of people and became very famous.” God asked, “Where is your fame now?” The rich man replied,”Sorry God, I lived it and left it behind.” God asked, “What happened to your property and wealth?”.  The billionaire said, “Now that you ask me, I could n’t bring them either.  My once handsome body is also burnt to ashes.” God smiled and said, “The only thing that you can bring back here is the love engraved on your Soul. I sent you to Earth with a huge treasury of love. What did you do to bring out this love? How many tears did you wipe and how many hearts did you heal? How many people did you share your wealth with? The billionaire sadly said, “I was so busy with my own work that I had very little time for anything else.  Now I have nothing to offer you.”

If we spend all our time in fulfilling our own personal needs and ambitions, we forget the very purpose of life.  Our Soul remains like a blank CD with no impressions on it.  What is impressed on the Soul is what we express outside.  The deeper the impression, the more Divine is the expression.  As we meditate every day, we create an impression  of Selfless Love on our Soul and waves of joy and contentment flow from us to envelop us as well as the world.  A sense of faith and belief based on a deep trust in our Self is ignited in us.  Then we will never waste time trying to impress anybody.  We will simply shower them with Unconditional Love and the way we look at life will change drastically.

The source of Love is an endless fountain waiting to be discovered and resurrected deep within our Souls and we can only begin to help others realize a lot of  the happiness, bliss and joy that springs from this Loving Spirit if we start and devotedly stay grounded to the Truth that is within.  '

Love & Regards.

P.S ~ I Can Never Thank & Love My Dad Enough ! I am barely beginning to look like I have a fraction of His Courage, Kindness, Generosity, Morals, Tolerance, Wisdom, Bravery, Faith, Discipline, Patience, Intuition and Tireless Strength. Taking on the semblance of Your Strong Impressions, Your Character and Guidance has been both my necessity and good fortune in this day, place and age.....I am still exploring and engaging my talents and blessings but I have had to learn and accept that Truth and Purpose, Kindness, Love, and Wisdom they all well and truly surpass anything and everything else that this World and Life has to offer.

The Promise of A Triumphant Spring…..

The Promise of A Triumphant Spring…..

In order to respond, one should become like a mirror. A mirror just reflects; it is never touched or tainted by the images

Every Spring bursts forth
with delightful songs of renewal,
Armed With Love and Life
for the passions of its Beloved,
May She come with the song of our glory,
To Wax that expansive Green Heart’s bright Horizon
And Our One and only Omniscient Forest’s joy,

For Trees on the mountains
though blasted and cold,
And the rocks in the desert
send out whispers untold…..

A cry this Mother hears..
Her spirit so free and ever caring,
Attentive and aroused
by strong passions and desirous longings,

She stumbles upon this call,
Seeking in her many yearnings..
To reply to the gentle Voices of Hibernia,

This My Dear Friend, is thus the Tale of True Triumph and Harmony,
An old lore armed with potent Nectar,
The Bliss of True Love
born in the deepest of Flowers
A Miracle that makes the Oceans roll
and the Mountains rise from the bottom less depths…..

A Cycle that Dispels our deepest desolations
With its Endless and Ineffable Truth.
A Truth that stills Hearts that are the Bravest
And bless All among the best of  Nations,

Shall Glory and life abound
In this the Song of songs.
For it keeps a record of those, the True at Heart,
It keeps its  Vows Strong, Nurtured and Nourished

Entwine in the resonance of this joyful song
Relish in the many Melodies of this Spirit’s Freedom,
A pause can’t keep Her from Breathing
No stones in Her path can keep her from Singing
For She is led by the Reverberations,
A Kind Look,
and the Divinity that reaches down and touches her Heart.....

I Wish You All
Blessings of Awakening, Renewal and Love

Heartfelt Regards,
Jai Krishna Ponnappan :)
